The Kuwait Society for the Handicapped was founded in 1971 for the purpose of providing its services to the children with severe disabilities, to ease the burden borne by their families, to alleviate the suffering of parents and to guide them towards educating and training their children so that they are incorporated into mainstream society.
The Society was established by a number of devoted volunteers who have been keen on providing alternative means of support for these children, other than social care homes afforded by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
These staunch and committed volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout, sparing no money or effort in fulfilling the material and emotional needs of children with disabilities. Some have worked fulltime to collect the necessary donations and to improve the quality of services rendered to them, while others have continuously made their voices heard in international arenas, calling for equating these children with their peers; acknowledging their rights and vesting them with the opportunity to prove themselves as active members of society. Still others have selflessly given their time, dedication and unconditional love.
